I have found myself telling God to "Come again please, because I must have heard that wrong" so many times within the past six months alone. "Make it make sense" is a close second.

It is not easy, obeying and trusting when it does not make sense. I am currently pursuing a new set of instructions and they are yet again unnatural for my flesh-So God will do the heavy lifting on that set-I'll just follow His lead.
In my tension of transition, I have had to lean on God's written and spoken word over my own life-so that I maintain the right posture in my season of waiting on His best plans for me. In my fierce struggle, I began to read Joshua 6: The fall of the wall of Jericho.
This story is nothing short of miraculous. And for the doubters, yes, the wall of Jericho did fall and yes, there is archeological evidence of this :D. God had promised the Israelites that He would hand them the land of Canaan that was "flowing with milk and honey" and He also promised them victory over the various peoples in that land as well-this included Jericho. Jericho had a powerfully fortified wall that no human army could possibly take down without supernatural assistance. I think an image will do it more justice.

A few things stood out:
1. Levelling of the Mountain
God already started the groundwork leading up to the fall of the wall through the defeating of the mentality/intimidation of the people of Jericho. Rahab confessed to this as she pleaded her case before the spies. (I see you, God, ayyyee) (Read Joshua 2)
2. Do The Marching-no Melodrama
"March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days." (Josh 6:3) "Joshua got up early the next morning and the priests took up the ark of the Lord. The seven priests carrying the seven trumpets went forward, marching before the ark of the Lord and blowing the trumpets. The armed men went ahead of them and the rear guard followed the ark of the Lord, while the trumpets kept sounding. So on the second day they marched around the city once and returned to the camp. They did this for six days."
No violent use of swords or shields. Just bold, strong men marching round fortified walls. Looking at those high walls every single day as they marched round gave them six different opportunities to deeply reflect on the impossibility of the task ahead by their own power. They indeed needed God.

3. God With Us
The Ark of the covenant never went alongside men of battle because it was never meant to be in the thick of battle. But look, "When Joshua had spoken to the people, the seven priests carrying the seven trumpets before the Lord went forward, blowing their trumpets, and the ark of the Lord’s covenant followed them. The armed guard marched ahead of the priests who blew the trumpets, and the rear guard followed the ark..."
This was an act of confidence-boosting. That God would not leave, nor forsake them. He would be with them in the thick of things!
4. The Odd Weapon
"The seventh time around, when the priests sounded the trumpet blast, Joshua commanded the army, “Shout! For the Lord has given you the city!....When the trumpets sounded, the army shouted, and at the sound of the trumpet, when the men gave a loud shout, the wall collapsed; so everyone charged straight in, and they took the city."
It was not cannon balls, arrows, spears or snipers that took the wall down. It was shouts- and not just any shouts, but shouts of praise. The worship of the Israelites was their weapon of warfare and that weapon was astoundingly successful!
Indeed, God "chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong." (1 Cor 1:27). God chose something that looked so harmless to do something that even armies could not, even with full weaponry! He challenged earthly authority and might because He is the holder of all authority and might!

Dear reader:
Worship is your warship-your words of praise are powerful weapons in the spirit realm and they shatter strongholds. Worship redirects your attention to the most powerful authority, and your renewed faith moves God.
God does not work things out the way we think He should, and that's probably for the best. Trust Him anyway!
You may seem small, but if God is on your side, no one can overcome you-not even the 'giants' of the 'land'!
Obedience to God's strategy will ALWAYS yield results that give God glory!
You will never be embarrassed when you put your obedience and trust in God-imagine those who laughed at Joshua when he gave those instructions, haha!
Get pumped!
God's way may seem rather odd, but He has accounted for every. Single. Thing. Trust the great wall-breaker.
